The Bridge at Sutter's End
At Sutter's End lit by pale moon's light
The Horseman's Bridge sits still
And if ye dare to cross at night
You tempt your blood to spill
The shadows play, your heart it aches
All is silent, no sound
Except the creaking steps you take
And the wind that sounds like hounds
You're halfway there, good show my friend
The journey's close at hand
Until a light shines at the tunnel's end
A jack o' lantern, a horse, a man...
His clothes are black like void and coal
His stallion's eyes glow red
Such a frighting laugh to be told
From a man without a head
He charges fast, you turn with dread
You need to make it to the end
But it is too late to keep yo
Oh my Chicago.
How windy, how sweet.
And the girls who live there,
Who I'd love to meet.
From Millennium Park,
To the Hancock Tower
Oh Chicago, Oh Chicago.
I'm forever in your power.

Shadows in the Moonlight - 9
Glints consciousness floated through a sea of blackness punctuated only by the slow beating of her heart. It soon stopped and she was sure that it was convincing enough to fool anyone who would check. The trick was to only let her heart beat once every minute keeping her overactive body with just enough blood to survive. Leaving the process to her analytical mind, the other half drifted off and before she realized she found herself in her childhood home nearly seven hundred year past
The sun slowly sank below the horizon flooding the sky with beautiful reddish hues. Elizabeth! Come in for supper! a young woman called
There she goes a running
Like a teenage handgrenade
Just looking for someone
To pull the pin and fade
Nevermind the world
It's not gonna break apart
Look for the lever deep inside
Open the floodgates to your heart
When all things said and done
When the crater smokes black
Like a phoenix from the ashes
My smile brings her back
"Wha? What do you mean?" Sammy, the girl, asked confused.
"Before that I think we need to find out why Mr. Cat is talking." the boy Sam replied. The stuffed rabbit clasped his furry paws behind his back and somehow blinked his worn button eyes.
"I understand your confusion. I shall answer the young man's question first. I am indeed the childhood toy you both know and love. But then again I am not."
Sammy finally released Sam and sat on the cold floor. A shiver jumped up her spine as her bare bottom came in contact with the floor, but the towel she was draped in was not big enough to sit on and also cover her chest. She simply tried to ign
Wren was roused from his sleep by a tapping of a sword on his booted foot.
"Wha?" he said groggily. Darius swept in the tent and hastily put a hand over Wren's mouth.
"Quiet. Rouse Maria. We're leaving this death camp."
They met Peck near the west border of camp hiding in the shadows behind the armory tent. He was keeping a sharp eye out for guard patrols that seemed to come by more often than necessary. He spotted Darius, Wren and a groggy Maria approaching him. With a quick hand signal he motioned for them to stop and take cover as a grizzled patrolman loped by. After he had gone, they approached silently.
"Glad you could make it." Pe
Sam barely kept himself from falling on his face after tripping over his feet. For some reason he had lost his balance. His head felt a little light as well. Maybe he was getting a little stressed out. After all he was barely eighteen and he owned his own house turned over to him after his father died. It was in pretty bad shape and in need of constant repair. On top of that he had his job and high school to deal with. Maybe all the lost sleep was catching up to him. Upon turning the corner he spotted Mr. Wilkins tending his prized flower bed. Sam always passed by and waved on his way home from work. Just a part of his routine. Though this ti

NRHKI - Chapter Twenty Five
The mood in the waiting room was somber. Taimo, Anmi and their mother sat waiting for news of their father and husband's condition. Mehai had finally finished crying, but she seemed extremely close to a repeat occurrence. Sabu walked into the room with a tray filled with paper cups.
"I've brought some coffee for you all." She said as she placed the small tray on the low table in the middle of the room.
Mehai smiled. "Thank you Sabu-san. Don't feel obligated to stay, though it is nice to have another person here."
Sabu bowed slightly. "Do not worry. Taimo-san is my neighbor. I wish to support him and his family during this crisis."

Between Chriss labored breathing and the psychotic laughter coming from Chez, Quinn was getting very anxious. Though at the moment they were safe, it was a waiting game. He HATED waiting games. He inched closer to Chris to check his wound.
It looks pretty bad. Lets get your shirt off so we can-
NO! Chris shouted as Quinn reached toward him. I mean you need to take care of her before we can do anything for me.
A little taken aback, Quinn nodded. Well, theres really only one way to do that. He reached into his front pocket and pull out a ripped pad of

Pilfered Affection - One
No other ship docked in Merry Wayland Spaceport had quite the reputation as the Pilfered Affection. Its hull told many stories of space battles, rough landings and hurried take offs. One man knew the stories better than anyone else alive. Dash Wastred hung on a sling attached to an access panel several feet off of the ground. Sparks showered the dock floor as he welded yet another hole in his beloved ship. The patch job was very good, unnoticeable except to another ship mechanic. Switching off the welder, he pushed up his goggles and revealed his rugged handsome features. He didn't like to shave, but he couldn't grow a beard to save his life.

Death Among the Dragons
A strong fetid odor wafted into Detective R. F. Riftlon's nostrils. A flash went off as a photo was taken. Toby Jakeim, crime scene photographer, adjusted his glasses while his camera whirr-snapped to another frame. The subject, unfortunately, was a middle-aged male lying in the middle of the study of Madame Kilx's Hillfire estate, dead by poisoning. The body was warm, which pinpointed his death to at most 3 hours before present time. His discolored tongue snaked out of his gaping maw and rested on the floor. As another picture was taken, Riftlon took a puff on his arsenic cigarette and a sip of his phosphene.
"Hey, Toby," he asked, "You'v
The lightsaber cut through the air in a flurry of motion. Tec doubled back and burst forward with two cross slashes quickly followed by a slanted down curve. It was a variation of a yarta ko technique that was commonly taught to children of his species near their coming of age. He was a Qualm, a reptilian species with a large build, long snout, horns, red scales, and vegetal wings. When young Qualm children neared maturity, they were charged with the task of carving out their own sword out of kasa wood, which was stronger that most metals, and learn yarta ko in order to defend against predators common on his planet. Serra's Blessing
The sun seared the freshly plowed land. A crow sat on a tree branch priming its feathers. A long groove was being carved in the dry soil. Sunlight glinted off the instrument of the segregation. Dust particles flew up from upturned stones and pebbles and drew to the sticky blood just above. Gashed, scratched, and unburnished metal roughly connected to a steel hilt, which in turn was loosely held by a gauntleted hand. Armored feet beat heavy footsteps into the ground, amidst drops of sweat and blood.
Must not stop. Must keep going.

Mooshu's Journey:Lizard Saga
Mooshu looked out at the distant mountains. A cold wind blew down and ruffled her bangs. She sighed. Finally she was to strike out on her own. She had heard about the World Martial Arts Tournament on the radio. A woman had never won it, but she was determined to change that. All it would take is her skill. She took her first step.
But my good looks wont hurt either. she thought.
18 Years Before
Dr. Liku ran toward the site of the explosion. "Oooh, I love meteorite craters!" he thought as he hopped over a small boulder in his way. He turned around the corner and saw the large smoking hole that was the sign of a crashed piece of space rock
Mooshu looked around the locker room. It was a disarray of clothes and bags. Various rubs, powders, and wraps covered the ground. What does this have to do with fighting? Mooshu asked herself.
"Hey" said a girl behind her. Mooshu turned to see a young woman standing there. She wore a black eye patch over her left eye that perfectly matched her jet-black hair. She had long baggy pants done up at her black boots. Chains hang from her waist.
"So you fightin' too eh?" she said as she placed one hand on her opposite bicep. "Be careful, there are a lot of people here who think that ladies our size shouldn't be fighting. And they be right abou
Once upon a midnight dreary
As I sat there weak and weary
About to open the box of Pop Tarts that I do adore
Suddenly I heard a sneezing
A violent type of wheezing just outside my chamber door
Perhaps the wind? Only that and nothing more.
Then I smelt a slight burning
A kind of smoky woodly yearning
As if fire licked my chamber door
Then my doorknob started turning
And the gears inside my head were whiring
Was someone or thing stirring just outside my chamber door?
Some kind of creature I do abhore?
With a crash and thunderous slinking
With his claws he was a clicking
Clicking on my tiled floor
"It seems to me your door is sti

Chapter five was a slog for some reason. It's right at the spot where I stopped writing this story before, the pirates. I got through it though, and it's a fun read. Lots of action and swordfighting. Many swashes were buckled!
