The DragonOnce upon a midnight drearyAs I sat there weak and wearyAbout to open the box of Pop Tarts that I do adoreSuddenly I heard a sneezingA violent type of wheezing just outside my chamber doorPerhaps the wind? Only that and nothing more. Then I smelt a slight burningA kind of smoky woodly yearningAs if fire licked my chamber doorThen my doorknob started turningAnd the gears inside my head were whiringWas someone or thing stirring just outside my chamber door? Some kind of creature I do abhore? With a crash and thunderous slinkingWith his claws he was a clickingClicking on my tiled floor"It seems to me your door is sticking."He said with his chops a lickingWhen he spied the Pop Tarts I do adore. With his tail he closed my chamber door."You cannot have these tarts you foolish dragon."I said even though his tail was waggingWagging at the thought of eating tarts galore."I could eat you instead." he said laughingWhile my jaw was sagging almost to my tiled floor. So I surrend
Curse Breaker 3The three walked through the forest at a good clip. It was their fourth day in there, and their foodstuffs were beginning to dwindle. Maria was not happy."Why are we walking in this direction? If I was on my own, I'd be in a town right now eating!" she said exasperated.Darius slid her a stern look. "We are going this way because Wren said we are going this way. We are looking for a cure to our curses, if that isn't important to you then you are welcome to leave at any time."Maria crossed her arms and pouted. She knew he was right, but her stomach still continued to growl.Wren smiled. "Here." he said and handed her a small portion of bread. "Eat that till we take a break for dinner."Maria devoured the piece, but was sullen that there wasn't more.A noise sounded through the trees, and Darius's hand shot to his sword. A man barreled through the foliage straight into Wren. The two fell over and Darius had his sword out and up to the man's throat before he had a chance to make a move.
Curse Breaker 2Wandering about the countryside wasn't very fun, but the Curse Breaker was leading Wren that direction."So how do you know which way it leads you? And how do you know when you find what you're looking for?" asked Darius. He made the most disgusting sloshing sound when he walked, blood filled up his boots as soon as he emptied them. He had to get a pair that fit near skin tight to fix that problem. Luckily for him the blood didn't rot, it must be imbued with the power not to coagulate.Wren shrugged. "Well, I just get a feeling. Kind of like it's talking to me."Darius raised an eyebrow. "What is it telling you now?"Pulling the sword out, Wren pointed it in the direction they had been walking and closed his eyes. After a moment they shot open. "Over there! Only a few yards away!"As they ran, Darius shouted, "What is it?"Wren avoided nearly hitting a tree in excitement. "I don't know! It's whatever we were tracking though!"They came to an open glade and for a moment it seemed like t
Misfortune - OneUS Air flight 345 nonstop to Baltic City cut through the cloud cover. A small metal plate designed to shield an unimportant conduit rattled in the wind. It had come loose sometime in the last few flights and the high speed wind proved too much for it. It shook loose and fell toward earth, unaware to anyone."Come princess! The ceremony will start any moment!" Lydia said clapping her hands together. She wore a long full robe with the colors of a royal court attendant. A small pair of spectacles were perched on her petite nose. A rainbow snake with feathery wings fluttered and swooped around her, occasionally pausing above her shoulder. The princess, Sophia by name, turned as she put a silver pin in her golden hair. She wore a deep purple ceremonial gown which seemed to change hue when she moved. She had just turned 18 a few months before, and she was a beautiful young woman with a shapely body."I'm quite ready Aunt Lydia." Sophia replied as they both walked toward the main hall where t
NRKHI - Chapter Twenty ThreeThe door to Taimo's room swung open as Nankin rushed in. She ran up to him and shook him. "Hey! Taimo-kun! Get up! We're gonna miss class!"Taimo spoke without rolling over. "I'm not going."His response made her take a step back. "Why not? Are you sick again?" She tried to lean over him to get a look at his face but he shook her off."I'm fine. I'm not going back to class. Ever. Just leave me alone." he replied.Nankin bit her lip. "But-""Just…go." he said.Worried, but respectful of his wishes, Nankin left. What was wrong? After another hour of sulking in bed Taimo finally headed downstairs. Suse was cleaning and eyed him with a mild disinterest."Aren't you supposed to be at class?" he asked.Taimo sighed. "Yeah. I don't want to talk about it."Suse continued to clean. "Very well. You can help me then. Move that box to the table."Soon the two had finished cleaning. Suse was headed to make tea when the phone rang. He answered it as Taimo walked into the room."Moshi moshi?" he answ
NRKHI - Chapter ThreeThe sound of gentle breathing filled the room as Taimo's chest rose up and down. With cat-like grace, Nankin crept over to the bed and gazed upon his sleeping form. Taking a deep breath, she yelled "Wake up Taimo!" Taimo jumped and fell out of the bed, tangled in the sheets. "Come on get out of bed." she said, "We're going shopping." Countering Taimo's evil stare with a feline look of innocence, Nankin left. Taimo yawned and scratched his ears. He had become much more accustomed to them in the past few days, and he found that he quite enjoyed a little scritch behind the ear. After a quick shower, he shook himself off and grabbed his towel. Looking in the mirror, he noticed how much of a resemblance he had to a shaggy mutt. He sighed. Well, he thought to himself, at least he didn't have fleas.Yoriko sat on the porch painting. The fresh air helped his sickness, and there was plenty of scenery. Dipping the brush into the paint, he noticed the two youngest residents exiting the house. "Na
